Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
